We recognize the need for inclusive growth and as part of our social responsibility, we apply our expertise and commercial technologies from our partners in scalable ways to practically and meaningfully impact the lives of socially disadvantaged people including people in rural communities, women and the Persons living with disabilities.
Inclusive social impact is crucial for enhancing living standards and alleviating poverty, particularly among marginalized groups. According to the World Bank, as of 2023, over 9% of the global population lives below the international poverty line of $2.15 per day, with women and children disproportionately affected. In many developing countries, including Ghana the poverty rate exceeds 20%, with rural areas and disadvantaged communities experiencing even higher levels of deprivation.
The situation is exacerbated by limited access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. For instance, UNESCO reports that 258 million children and youth are out of school globally, and more than half of them are in Sub-Saharan Africa. The exclusion of persons with disabilities is also stark, with the World Health Organization estimating that 80% of people with disabilities live in developing countries, often lacking access to basic services and employment opportunities.
The continued exclusion of this segment of the populace denies them equal opportunities for self-improvement and pushes them further into poverty. On another level, it deprives the nation of much-needed human resources that require development. By integrating these marginalized groups into the socioeconomic framework, Anakosmos Impact aims to unlock their potential, contributing to national and global development.
